Panel Discussion: Looking Forward to the Grid of the Future
Date & Time
Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 11:00 AM - 11:40 AM
Description
Traditionally, utilities create power and customers purchase it. That was then.

The future is coming fast. Tomorrow’s grid will not look like yesterday’s grid. That’s the promise of modern grid technology such as transactive energy and blockchain trust models.

Looking Forward to the Grid of the Future is a panel discussion exploring how the grid might change and, more importantly, how those changes will affect customers.

The panel will also discuss whether the grid of the future is truly viable by answering the following questions:
  • Can businesses customers produce, buy, and sell electricity to other customers?
  • What role—if any—will utilities and bilateral contracts play?
  • Where does energy storage fit in with the grid of the future?
  • Can companies really generate long-term, sustained revenue through self-made power?
